Fiat Ccosing 4 Factories For 3 Weeks

Owing to falling sales, Fiat is to close 4 of its 6 factories for 3 weeks. For some time I've thought Fiat was likely to be the next 'MG-Rover', as it were.

Don't the Italians tend to have an almighty shut-down in the summer anyway, like most of Europe? I expect that rather than operate a slow tick-over for the main hoilday period, they will actually stop the lines completely. Quite an expensive knock-on to get them going again I expect.

I have a french mate who is a maintenance enigneer in a factory that makes car parts. They always have a 3 week shutdown in July / August

Except for him - as thats when they pull out and replace knackered equipment in the factory
