Persimmon Cut 1100 Jobs

Just heard on local tv news York based Persimmon to cut 1100 jobs.

BBC puts it slightly differently -

... Persimmon says it has shed about 1,100 jobs since the start of the year ...

Yep - and this seems to be only the start. What with the Building Societies' lending down 90%, yes 90% YOY we'll see more of the same.

"Strong employment (gasp), low interest rates (ghhhhhhhhgg) blah, lie, blah" says Gordenron.

first post, this is the thin end of the wedge, this is just for the directly employed, nothing is being said about the sub contractors or the self employed who have been part of the Persimmon outfit for so long,
