Credit Crunch?

Recommended Posts

Applied for a Barclays platinum card just over a week ago to do some 0% rate tarting on.

Thought I might be able to get a credit limit of about £3k or so, but nope, came through at £8,420!

It seems that if you are a prime customer there is plenty of credit out there.

They are fishermen. The big credit limit is...bait!

Got 4.5K on my HBOS card earlier in the year which I'm now furiously stoozing on. I would probably have got more if I hadn't just moved house.

I posted a 'recession' thread on another forum covering general current affairs topics. So far there have been 14 replies, not one of which takes the topic seriously! Comments like 'I've noticed more men seem to have receding hairlines'.

I got an £8,000 limit on a post office credit card last week.

Mind you i cancelled one of my other cards, being a prudent sort of chap.

tried to up my 0% hsbc card from 6k-9k when i got to my limit a month ago (bare in mind i have 8k in instant access savings earning interest with them, so its not like I'll be unable to pay it off). got denied! 9k would have been 20% of my income - I know people with cards well over 4x their income. not so much as a spec of dust on my credit history either - I was very surprised...

Walked into an upmarket clothing shop in Hexham and went for a Gannex.

The prices tag said 50% off...and it was..been watching these for a few months.

I looked, fiddled around a bit with the best quality coat on the planet and walked past an attendent. The attendent said 'excuse me sir, the Gannex is further reduced by an extra 20%, would you like to try it on?'

I declined. Three months ago I would have bought this for the full price...hard to find.

Even for me, an out and out Bear, this was shocking. These f**** coats cost a fortune, and she was practically giving it to me for the price of a leather peice of sh**.

The crunch is on, for sure. BTW, alot of 'for sale' and 'too let' signs in and around Hexham....just been up for a few weeks. LOADS!

I was laughing, but it was a little too close to home to be truly funny.

As for the Gannex....Probably go back tomorrow, and try it on.
