salamander
A recent thread quoted a report stating that 57% of the UK population believe in the resurrection. I thought it might be fun to find out how prevalent this view is on HPC

scarlets79
clearly the people here are not representative, they are on the lunatic fringe of society, basing their core beliefs on false creeds and conspiracy theories with no shred of evidence in support. Since the only position that requires evidence is the one favouring the existence of jesus then you must include yourself in the lunatic fringe. You're so stubborn I didn't think you'd ever learn anything on this forum, I now conceed that I was wrong.

Ursa Minor
The real question of course - is if he was born on the 25th how come he died on a different day each year? Not only that, but frequently twice in the same year - Eastern churches often have a different Easter date than Western ones. UM
salamander
The real question of course - is if he was born on the 25th how come he died on a different day each year? Christmas is linked to the Winter Solstice. In fact, under the original Julian calender, 25th December was the date of the Winter Solstice. Easter is linked to the first full moon following the Vernal Equinox of 21st March, when day and night are of equal length almost everywhere. Much of Christian mythology can be traced back to pre-existing legends of man-Gods, death and rebirth which in many cases were "explanations" for the seasons and other astronomical observations. Edit: Typos

Edit: Typos more nonsense, and a sly implication that Christianity is a form of paganism when it's clearly not Jesus was not born on 25th December, that's just when it gets celebrated. The other allegations are all wishful thinking, as was the davinci code, Jesus tomb and all other conspiracy theories you people insist on clinging to. Why do folks like you come on this site and lie so much about Christianity?
Guest Skint Academic
Jesus was not born on 25th December, that's just when it gets celebrated. ... because the 25th used to be a pagan festival and xtianity had to displace it from our culture. pootle
Why do folks like you come on this site and lie so much about Christianity? Why does someone write a bot to come on a forum and mis-represent Christianity? I know this isn't going to be a popular view on here, but it is worth pointing out that scarlets79 is not a paragon of Christian virtue (a bit like most of the large religious organisations really). Don't paint other Christians with the brush dipped in the tar of Scarlet79's soul. (and before anyone asks, no I'm not a Christian, I just think people need to be a bit more tolerant - but not of a bot )
