'credit Crunch' Debt Fears Rise

Recommended Posts

Worries about mortgage repayments and household bills have led to a huge rise in the number of people asking for financial help in Swansea.Advisers at the city's Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) say they have seen a surge in people facing difficulties - including people in their 70s and 80s with mounting debts. Experts are urging people who fear their finances are spinning out of control to seek help before it is too late.

Swansea CAB chief executive Jackie Preston said: "Over the past 18 months we have seen a lot more people coming to us. January to March is traditionally one our busiest times of the year with people facing big bills - but now we are seeing more people with mortgage difficulties."

"We are seeing people in their 70s or 80s coming to us," she said.
