Pharma Industry Deserting The Uk! Er, Or Not.

Recommended Posts

The head of the British pharmacy industry was on Today this morning talking about a survey which says that the industry is going to leave the country. Lots of talk about 4 BILLION! turnover.

The poor guy, though, was either poorly briefed, or didn't really believe the figures. He just kept repeating the headline article.

"Er, yes, a survey has shown that our members aren't happy with the government."

"Why is that?"

"Er, well, there was a survey, and our members said, no, they're not happy."

"Specifically, though - is it taxes?"

"Well, we've had to lay people off in the industry."

The one thing he did sound more emphatic about, though, was that the pharma industry ISN'T deserting us in droves, and - thinking about it, where would they go?

America?

France?

In fact, although we may be doing pretty poorly, which countries are actually worth investing in - and I mean investing with a skilled workforce, infrastructure, legal system, and decent labour costs, not just a "country" to reside in to reap the rewards of low taxation?

Cause where it sits to my humble little mind, we may be falling, but we're falling slower than a lot of other countries.
