Dow All Over The Place - Up Down Up Down And Up!

Recommended Posts

Only up 0.2% at end of trading. See-saw = more trouble???

Yes - it fell about 80 points in the last 15 minutes. The Dows been up and down more often today than ex Governor Spitzer's trousers on a business trip to Washington DC!

OT! What's the Governor of New York got to do with the DOW?

He built his reputation as New York DA by completely cripling dodgy wall street firms.... His downfall was percieved as very good news for corporations - even if he's doing a different job now

Edit - He's not actually doing the job anymore btw

It's going crazy now - a plunge then a bigger rise in the last few hours. It reminds me of that famous film of the Takoma suspension bridge that broke up in a storm.

Volatility is always high before a crash. The Fed is quickly running out of ammo with which it can continue to manipulate the markets. The black 10%+ capitulation day will come soon (viz. when the biggest players decide that the time is right).

Will high-frequency volatility scare a lot of investors off as the mood becomes impossible to gauge, even with automated trading?

The fact that one day we're heading for recession, the next day there's a mini-boom shows just how unstable the economic system is at present.
