What Time Does The Japanese Market Open?

Recommended Posts

Just wondering whether it's worth staying up to see any action.

2 a.m. - what are you expecting? - it will fall a bit because it was closed when walls st fell on friday, just a question of whether or not it builds in extra decline - australian market will give you an idea when it opens at 11 (from memory)

I´ve got absolutely no idea what to expect - only those on the inside know that! Just thought it could be a good indicator of what's been happening over the weekend.

For whatever reason, rises and falls on the Nikkei tend to be to quite large. 600 points down would a bad day, 800 point would be serious. 300 , nothing worth talking about.

that's because their market is around the 12,000 level so double ours in terms of numbers

I thought it opened at midnight GMT unless Japan's just moved on to Double Summer Time!

The Japanese don't do 'summer time.' It's just one long winter there.

Nine hours ahead at this time of year.

No , I didn't mean that . I mean't in percentage terms too and compared to the Dow it moves a lot more. Remember over the longer term it' s also had quite a large range. 39,000 in 89 , 8,000 about 7 or 8 years ago and 18,000 last year.Much more of a rollercoaster.
