We always said sentiment would turn on a sixpence on HPC

And now it has!

In the space of a few weeks, the financial world has moved from denial to PANIC

We have long since passed any notion of a PEAK

In the last couple weeks, the news has been overwhelmingly BAD

I think it's true to say, the DENIAL stage is over

We are now in FULL DOWNWARD ROLLERCOASTER MODE

And it is gonna be terrible for a lot of people.

And before we get too smug about house prices falling through the floor............nobody will want to be buying property of taking on a mortgage in next few years and it's very unlikely the banks will be in a position to lend money anyway.

This is gonna be the worst recession in living memory

Well, let us hope that is finally the case. A quick Rightmove check shows that my postcode (N14) has 195 houses (i.e. I searched excluding flats) for sale. For the last two years that figure has always hovered about 140-150. Once it breaks the 200 - which it will do in the next month - I'm breaking out the cigars. :)

Once it tops 250 - hopefully by August - I'll be dancing in the streets. And once it breaks 300 - early 2009? - I'll go and take the piss out of all the local EA's; well, those that are still in business by then. :)

It certainly has been one crazy week for the markets. I'm not sure how it'll develop though and the worst case scenario would need some more catalysts in play? The question mark is there because I genuinely believe that it's not decided yet!

Just a small add-on, not worth me starting a thread for it, but.......

The public notices in our local paper include details of a creditors meeting to do with a local builder that's gone bankrupt. One swallow doesn't make a summer and, of course, I don't know the circumstances of the company, but worth a mention.
