Michael Saunders - Citigroup - Now Says:

"Our forecast that house prices will only fall 5 percent year-on-year this year is beginning to look quite optimistic," Citigroup economist Michael Saunders said.

Well i think he either lurked on our Halifax thread last week, or lurks here anyway, or Citi have told him about the state of their company.

as per my 10% drop in Esher thread, we are already seeing chunks off asking prices of distressed sellers.

Also seeing a few going under offer though...

A 5% only fall is truly optimistic in the climate of the last 6 months. Why has it taken him so long to even admit to this? In the US falls have been much greater! Wake up Saunders, wake up!

Here's how it was reported in The Mirror.

I posted this to the news blog about an hour ago but its yet to show.

By the way I emailed two amusing photos to Strobes at Private Eye and I'm hoping he'll publish them too. I told him to spend the winnings on a round of trebles.

California has seen 20% drop on average Jan 07 to Jan 08
