Taylor Wimpey Tumbles Into Red As Orders Fall By One Fifth

The company, formed almost a year ago after the £5.5 billion merger of Taylor Woodrow and George Wimpey, said yesterday that a £405.5 million pre-tax profit in 2006 had turned into a £19.5 million loss last year. George Wimpey last reported a loss 15 years ago in the last housing market crash.

Good riddance. About time these HPI-rampers got hit.

Sales in the US continued to struggle. Last year the company sold 6,740 homes there, down a third. Revenue in the US fell £711 million to £1.2 billion.

Lucky yanks. Thats about $178,000 per home.
