It cost me £8 for the 1.2 miles from the station to Bootham last week, if that's any consolation (though admittedly, the usual traffic queues in Leeman Road and Exhibition Square accounted for most of that). I only paid it because I had too fookin' heavy suitcases and could claim the fare on expenses, but compared to the free bus from Teesside Airport to Darlington station at the other end of that train journey (6 miles) it came as a bit of a shock!

Well seeing as its too expensive to drink in one of those "trendy" town centre pubs now, we should all be able to drive in and out of town. Unless you go to Rumours or Nags head and get distilled meths quite cheap. Wish they still had the Ikon bus, a nice cheap way to get home when bladdered, even though it was full of chavs.

The Ikon bus crashed into the perimeter fence (not sure if they call it that, though) of the Churchill Hotel, opposite my flat, a couple of years ago - left a fair few pi$$ed up chavs licking their wounds, if I remember correctly.
