I Left My Dream Job After Buy-to-let Mess

Recommended Posts

Tenants are protected from rogue landlords and agents by laws that came into force last year, but these do nothing to protect property owners...

I don't see how the story justifies this sentence. The LA could just as easily have screwed the tenant as the LL. The problem is that LAs are not legally regulated and therefore cowboys can and do operate in the business. That's just as much of a problem for tenants as it is for landlords.

I'm waiting for more stories like this one, In 1994 I inquired about BTL though an agency.

looking into the small print I was amazed how little they helped if you had problems with

tenants.

They made no bones about it... if you had trouble with tenants not paying ! you were on your own

and they even charged you £100 per day if they were called to court on your behalf.

Is being a Driving Instructor really anyone's dream job? :o

I can't imagine Driving Instructor being a big earner in the Caribbean, or the tests being that complicated... but maybe I'm totally wrong.

At least poor Cat now seems to have got her money and can carry on instructing.
