Is It Just Me Or Is This A Pretty Ugly Block Given Some Flats Are Going For £100m?

Pictures of number 1 Hyde Park, the new uber luxury silly development for people with more money than they have molecules in their fat, ugly bodies.

I thought it was going to be stunningly beautiful for its ludicrous price tag, but that's pretty bland and unappealing.

At first glance, they look a bit like Cruddas Park Flats in Newcastle (a vile concrete monstrosity knocked up by the corrupt T Dan Smith in the 1960s). The sort of place you'd expect to find discarded beer cans, used needles, and dead tramps in the urine-stinking stairwells.

As for the "security features" - bullet proof windows, eye scanners and panic rooms - what sort of place is Hyde Park these days that they need to lock it down like Fort Knox?

Whoever buys here will pay close to the GDP of an entire African nation for the privilege of "owning" a little slice of a seventies retro-look tower block in an area of London so feral they have to protect the residents from stray bullets. There comes a point where you simply run out of superlatives to describe such folly.

Mind you, if I had so much money I had to hire a team of flunkies just to carry my wallet I might buy a couple anyway, just to stroke my swollen ego about the fact that I could. I wouldn't ever use it though, just let it sit empty while drifting around the world like a spoilt, obnoxious twit.

being super wealthy makes you an immediate security risk wherever you are in the world

that's compounded many times over when the source of your obscene wealth is beyond murky, which is undoubtedly going to be true of most of the occupants of this development

OP is right, with the budgets those Candy brother tossers have they could have made something inspiring and beautiful, rather than this identikit blandness

wonder what the monthly service fee is?

God knows, but I'd imagine the managing agents would still be needlessly objectionable and unpleasant, it's a fundamental law of nature.

I was quite surprised, I was expecting to be aching with jealousy for the sheer unparalleled coolness of it, all of the blurb had referred to them being architecturally stunning.

If I had a budget of £100 million to spend on a new property, I'm sure I could do better than that.

Would this be a better buy? Looks a bit rough ( ;) ) but hey, with the money saved you could have a permanent security team on hand.
