Good Socialists?

And what an addition the seven-bedroom country residence would make to the former Prime Minister's portfolio, which already boasts two Bristol flats, his residence in Durham and, most recently, the multi-million pound Connaught Square stronghold in Central London. With the prospect of popping up to Chequers no longer an option, the Blairs have been in search of a replacement rural retreat to get away from it all.

nice work if you can get it.

what with the rumours that they are already 'upside down' with their current 'portfolio' it makes one wonder where the money comes from... lordy lordy

to their credit probably a better investment choice than somewhere in downtown Baghdad - i don't suppose it would be worth so much with a bunch of insurgents hiding in the shrubbery, and body parts on the gravel drive

Winslow Hall? The irony is not lost on this horse.

The Winslow Boy is a play based on the factual story of a boy expelled for stealing a postal order. To clear the boy's name was imperative for the family's honour; had they not done so, they would have been shunned by their peers and society.

Good socialists indeed - socialism always has seemed to me to be about the people at the top being even richer than the capitalists they claim to despise whilst pretending not to be in various devious ways. I suppose you should give the Blairs credit for not even bothering to pretend. B*st*rds.

Bliar a socialist yer havin a Giraffe, I could never pay for my son to have the private education Bliar received, neither could about 97% of the population.

New Labour is littered with these kind of charlatans.

Agree 100%.

Socialism is about telling everyone else what they should or shouldn't be doing, whilst ignoring the advice oneself. Socialism fosters greed, laziness, and over-regulation. Socialist leaders think we can't be trusted to organise our lives and our finances ourselves, and they have no faith in us to look after the poor and helpless without being compelled to do so through fiscal policy. And why is this? Because they judge us all by their own gutter-low moral and ethical standards.

Two words: John Prescott.

Hi Ethel.

I hear you, and in many regards this is true (over-legislating and the HSE are but 2 examples), but I would point out that a bit more Nannying from the state might have prevented this HP bubble.

Unfortunately in this regard, they dropped the ball and followed the Tories into de-regulation Hell.

Of course if you could point to anything in the housing market that points to them organising our financing for us, I am happy to stand corrected.

Edited because "mught" isn't a word. Unless it is. But it's not the right one anyway

You are right, but I wasn't specifically talking about this government, rather socialist governments generally. It has to be said that many of Nu-Labour's policies are distinctly un-socialist. This became apparent the moment they got into office and promptly scrapped university grants.

(EDIT: I hope you don't mind me quoting you in my signature BTW)

Mind?

Positively flattered.

Face went a bit pink in the office.

I am sure there are much better quotes from others than that, but am glad you liked it.

I prefer "100% correct. Guaranteed" myself. :)

Don't you think we live in communist system?

The big objective is to destroy capitalism by letting it gorge on itself without naturally correcting.

Control, control, control, but not in your hands, thats communism. Labour (Fabian Society) deliberately f*cked up like they always have, google search for general fabius and the fabian strategy and you'll see whats really going on and why civilian sacrifice is good. We just need to work out why we are being sacrificed and whether its working. Don't forget Hitler, Mussolini, Mao, Stalin and any true dictator in modern history were socialists left or right makes little difference. Don't also confuse who were just puppets and stooges, particularly S America and Mideast. Freedom isn't free, we fight for it.

Mrs Blair earns a frikkin packet (£300PH) advising slimey companies on how to get out of paying minimum wage employees even statutory minimum redundancy when they are to be laid off.

******* hypocrites - I hope Mr. Jihad finds his way up their drive way when they are in

Funny, never realised he was registered blind. Blunkett could give him lessons in picking better looking women !

Back on the subject I've always thought he was a classic socialist - out for himslef while pretending to be whiter than white.
