Edinburgh Prices Continue To Rise..........

Recommended Posts

Saw this interesting article today in the Evening News (Same company as the Scotsman).

Evening News story

Title - City house prices continue to rise to average of £222k

1st paragraph - HOUSE prices have risen by over ten per cent in Edinburgh despite the recent turbulent period in the finance sector, according to ESPC figures published today.

I thought that some of the numbers seemed a bit strange so I did a google. Came up with this story from the Scotsman from only one month ago.

Scotsman Story

Title - House prices fall in capital

3rd Paragraph - "announce a drop in average house prices in the capital, from £228,845 in July to £216,147 in August"

It is the most classic case of selective journalism I have ever seen. Comparing the 'average' house price over the last 3 months to the average house price over the same 3 months last year.

The fact that nominal prices have fallen from July to today doesn't seem to come into it................

It was early afternoon when I last peeked at this site. I wonder how much prices have risen in Scotland since then?
