Look At This! Fox & Sons "sale" Window

Recommended Posts

...took this picture this morning at rottingdean,2 miles from brighton.Frankly i am shocked and amused..

NO property ads in the window, just "sale" and "genuine reduction" stickers.

...guess they arent in denial about the downward nature of prices anymore? anyone else seen this in a fox & sons?

mmm..was a bit too shocked to do that, and the guy sittng at the desk didnt look very happy.

...im glad this happened at fox & sons.the b****** had a "preferred" buyer scheme back in jan and gave me a load of BS about if your not on it they wont deal with you!

this included having to go see there financial "expert" who would check your "situation" to protect there sellars(i.e try and sell you a crappy mortgage)

I still have the email address of the guy who said this.I emailed him after taking the picture, saying i would like to join the prefered scheme..Wonder what will come back.

--on a serious note,if i was seller this would have me very, very worried..

I am so glad i foudn this site a few months back and went STR

Some ratbag of a woman working for Fox & Sons in 1994 in Fordingbridge, Hampshire gave me a load of attitude when I told her my budget and that I was looking for a detached house. Her reply was "you won't get a detached house for that amount of money, you should look at semi-detached and terraced houses. You need to be more realistic."

It felt like a scene from Pretty Woman except nobody mistakes me for Julia Roberts.

Miserable, sad, bitter old cow. I hope she's still an Estate Agent....... Not something I wish on many people.

Xil.

If you had carried on driving east along the A259 and you would have found this disaster waiting to happen.

http://www.capenewhaven.co.uk/

The prices, the poor, poor sods - have now been RELEASED!

Hurrah for the prices. Out at last!

I was getting worried they weren't going to release them at all. That such is the demand for these astonishingly tasty apartments (with sea views! calm DOWN!) that the prices would not be released until after exchange of contracts and then, and only then, would you find out just what a bargain you had got.

Not fair on people with dicky tickers. Thank heavens they have seen sense and released the prices.

God bless them.

yep it does say "committed"...i wasnt quite sure what that meant.

Brighton is suppossed to be "immune" from house price reductions..!

Well, it suffered horrendously last time around, so that's t*ss

I hate to rain on everyone's parade - but that Fox and Sons sale - could it be a sale on their commission. Half price commission for instructions in October - that sort of thing?

Seems a bit unlikely that they are having a house price crash type of sale. They'll have no vendors left by the end of the week.

I just called them, and it is indeed an "Autumn Sale" due to the market slowdown on properties that are "lingering".

It is a national initiative throughout the group.

What made me laugh was that he insisted that the prices are not falling.

I said, so you "admit the market it slowing and therefore you are responding by reducing prices and yet you maintain that prices are not falling?" He started side stepping in only the way that ea state agents do. So i cant be bothered to give you his bulls*** excuses :)

nice to know its a national effort...thought maybe the local bloke had lost it and gone postal in an EA kind of way.

I meant what EA admits to price cuts???

One that wants to keep his job in the current climate. The game has now changed to a buyers market. The only way they will survive is to attract the few buyers out there to them."Look out houses are better value for money than other EA's" Sales volume or die. If they can talk the vendors down and make a sale then it is they who will survive.

How long till the others catch on :P

I had exactly the same treatment in an EA's in Earlsfield, London in 1999. Said my budget was £100k - she said you won't find anyway for that round here, try Streatham!!

As matter of fact we did find a 1-bed flat for under £80k* :)

*How times have changed :(
