A.steve
I don't think any government that we elected is in power. I am a little bit scared, to be honest, though I'm not sure what I am scared about. This is only about money, I suppose. We are in a news blackout; selective bits of the internet are gone... but (amazingly) this site still seems to be up. What do you see?

A.steve
Eh?And there I was thinking you were talking about the ERM! OK. Things I know. 1. Mobile phone network is down... (Though landlines are up - I think - they ring) 2. Email is not delivered. 3. I think that the "absolute last ditch save the country bunker" was used yesterday for a meeting. 4. Mervyn King told us this would happen last week... if we'd listened carefully. He didn't give me a date - but someone else did. 5. The BBC News 24 is spouting gibberish not about the UK. My current hypothesis is that the USA is in a similar situation. We suffered a major financial crisis yesterday. In essence, every bank in the world we know was insolvent... At 9Am Brown made what I now suspect was his Hari Cairi speech... either that or he has been assassinated... or somehow removed under some emergency power. If Brown is in power by 9am this morning we will be living in a fascist dictatorship. I want to hear from anyone in London... London is where it is all happening - if anything is happening at all. Dubai
Calm down, laaa....! I just got some money transferred from the UK.... in much less time than they "guaranteed" (but at a crap exchange rate).... so the banks can't be in meltdown. Go and have a nice cup of tea, the big events are not happening just yet.

I'm not spooked as such... but I hope something is happening. I went to 24-hour Tesco and four unarmed men had "secured" it and were denying entry except to their friends. Moo
The temporary loss of "bits of the internet" is an extremely common event, generally down to nothing more sinister than expensive bits of kit going pop.

Something wierd is happening. My train was cancelled into Liverpool street so I took a taxi from Chelsford. When I got to London no trains were going in to Liverpool street and the BoE was surrounded by Armed Police!! My mobile phone had stopped working, but it came on about 2 minutes ago and everytime I make a call there is a clicking as the other end is picked up as thoiugh something is listnening. I've also just seen out of the window of my office that there is a police escort moving towards westminster. Why is this not on the news?????? ;-)

A.steve
Please, put your tin foil hat back on and stop making me wet! I hope I'm being stupid... but I've a weird feeling that we will see something on the news at 9am. The BBC is saying that Brown is in Iraq. Has anyone seen an ordinary policeman today?
