Royal Bank Of Scotland Group

Totally different type of bank from NR. Basically, RBS are no where near as exposed to bad debt. They off loaded a lot of the dodgy stuff a while back. Hence why the share/divvy hasn't been as good as some banks, but then, if you want risk and return, you went NR. Oh dear

Confession time - I'm sleeping with the enemy! There! I said it!

Wife started with RBS recentley - she isnt worried about her job as, like you say, they flogged off most of their dodgy stuff a while back to some greater fools.

Also, RBS has fingers in just about every financial pot including insurance (eg. direct line) and loads of other stuff, whereas Northern Rot are one-trick ponies.

In times of crispy credit, its going to be building societies who really bear the brunt. I would say that HBOS is probably a lot more at risk than RBS/Natwest, Barclays HSBC or Lloyds.... Although HSBC did buy up a big US sub-prime lender before it all went boobies to the ceiling......
