This has never happened before in the 30+ years I've lived at this address. A hand-delivered, unsolicited copy of a glossy EA magazine "property plus" plopped through the letter box today. They must be getting desperate.....

Exact same thing happened to me. Over 100 page glossy magazine from Winkworth EAs. Two thirds of it is available property. Never seen one of these come through the letterbox in my life. And I've not joined any EA's in this county.

We get these in Cambridge weekly and have done for about a year now.

We get very similar guff from a couple of local agents here in a seriously leafy bit of "prices won't fall here, we're special, but ten miles up the road they will" Surrey. Come to think of it, we used to get them in "the South Coast is special, prices won't fall here, they'll fall nearer London, but not here, we're special" as well.

For what it's worth, does anyone on here actually live in an area that isn't stuffed to the gunwales with "it'll be them, not us" bulls?

I've had this in Guildford for the last 6 years or so.

Funny tale. An ex-receptionist at work turned up last week to tell all and sundry that she's now an estate agent. Apparently the base pay sucks, but you can make loads of money in commision!!1one. She's not the brightest of girls, I didn't have the heart to discuss it with her.

I received a leaflet from a Indian take away that is about 6 miles from my house - never ever contacted them before (although I do try not to read too much into these sort of things).

I've noticed lots of Sold adverts in the local paper, including one full page of them titled "Look at all the houses we have sold recently"

I'm thinking supply must be drying up if you cannot even fill you pre-booked double page spread, theres no money in talking about the past after all.

<_<

If properties were selling like the proverbial hot-cakes (as we are constantly reminded when we're told not to 'miss the boat') then there would be no point in printing a glossy mag because they'd be all gone by the time it was delivered.

You may be being told that you have "missed the boat" but I doubt that properties are selling like hot cakes any more. My simple point is that some of the anecdotal stuff we see on site could just be co-incidence (some not I suppose as the person who had a phone call from an estate agent the other day with desperation in his voice). Feel good when you see the evidence of prices going down not when some Eastern European who is delivering brochures turns up your street by mistake.
