A business boss has warned that rising house prices are making it difficult to recruit skilled staff.Mike Bond, managing director of Kernow Coatings, said he and other Cornish manufacturing firms cannot find workers with the right skills because they cannot afford to buy homes in the area.
The business at the Kernick Industrial Estate, Penryn, has an annual turnover of £8 million, but Mr Bond said: "A significant problem for us has been in recruiting chemists.
"High house prices are having a knock-on effect on our company.
"Young and highly-trained people are not able to afford to live in Cornwall.

This absurd situation is a good reason for Gordon to admit his mistake and just let it go. It has been miraculous and he has proven the point that HPI can ruin communities and even price out professional chemists in its last stages. But its time to call it quits, turn off the light, and quielty retire on the Outer Hebrides where you can "make like Napoleon in exile."

No good complaining now, every month the CBI were crying crocodile tears and asking for rate cuts.

They got them.

Its your problem now.

A lot of British manufacturing has given up and gone abroad, so have a lot of people working in manufacturing/engineering/scuience or they have given up and left the industry.

Undergraduates take one look at science and say themselves stuff this for a game of soldiers this will never pay.

So you want him to commit political suicide? If he was a honourable man to do such a thing UK plc would not be in today's mess.

Err hello, he can;t recruit, they are not living there and they are not moving down there to rent.

With half a brain they'll be going to Germany, US or Asia where they will be MUCH better off.
