I saw that, I suspect he had removed Food and Tax rises from his shopping basket, and replaced them with Northern Rock Shares.

As we are repeatedly told when it's the other way round, the remit of IR policy is to target inflation 6-12 months out.

IR policy is what ever they want it to be on any given day. Some people say there is a fuzzy line between economics and politics. Well the fuzzy line is interest rates.

I'll be annoyed if we do follow US with a rate cut... which is why I put a bet on -0.25 at betfair to soften any blow!! Odds were 2.40 (still less for no hold though).
