Declan Currie Discusses Dishwashers!

Recommended Posts

Has the BBC, in light of the ever growing panic at Northern Rock, decided to take a much closer look at the UK economic situation.

This morning Adam Applegath, head of Northern Rock, was interviewed by a very intelligent lady on the BBC who gave him a seriously hard time. Sensible direct questions which demanded an answer. Well done at last, BBC. This was immediately followed by our favourite leprachaun, complete with apron and pink Marigold gloves, questioning a family whether it was greener to wash dishes by hand or in the dishwasher. Unbelievable!

Will this continue? Lets hope so. Everywhere you look the financial problems in the UK are now coming under severe scrutiny. Instead of the BBC cosying up to the Government and financial institutions, it seems they are at last taking their resposibilities as an independent broadcaster a lot more seriously.

I thought I'd seen it all when I saw the cute financial presenter woman feeding lines to Merryn Somerset Webb!

I've long since turned off when the fat pellock comes on. Clearly he has a massive BTL empire to save, but in a canny prediction of his fate has focussed today on cleaning dishes!

I was listening to 5 Live on the way in, and while Rebecca wotsername was towing the official Beeb lina bout how NR were very successful and "who coud have foreseen it a year ago". I was just starting to shout at my car radio, when this IFA who was dragged in, presumably to issue soothing sounds ,suddenly said that NR had the largest gearing of all Financial Institutions in Europe and that historically these things happen and that it should have been foreseen by the regulators.

Ought to mention that Victoria Derbyshire was being unusually bear-ish, at which point Rebecca of the "business unit" or whatever they call it had to pull her back into the party line.

Dangerous things at the BBC.

Although I think the environment is very important it is well down my list behind such things as the Economy and Housing. I am certain that if people were given a stake in Society i.e. at least having a fighting chance of ever owning a property then they would care more about a lot of things including the Environment.

Anyway from the Conservatives, to the Liberal Dems, to the BBC all are using the Environment to dodge the real issues. I guess the BBC who lets face it were very pro Labour (like myself I would add) can now not admit that the Government have ******ed up on most issues, From the NHS to the Wealth Gap. A supposed socialist government that have denied a whole Generation the right to own a house and have saddled them with huge debts to get an education. Where do the BBC go from here they picked a side and now are backed into a corner,

To be fair to the Bunter-esque barrel of insipid morning hideosity, he's just a mouthpiece for the suits, it's unlikely he has any say in what goes in the schedule.

Perhaps the Beeb are simply getting spooked themselves, and are finally waking up to the magnitude of the elephant in the room. Hence, cuddly Curry is getting farmed out to more lighthearted items as he simply lacks the clout to handle these new, darker times.

I'll give credit where credits due (Unlike American Banks!) last week Declan explained clearly several times just how the Financial system got itself into this mess starting with the USA sub-slime debacle onwards to the credit crunch and then the problem reaching UK shores.

He explained it simply enough that even i could understand.

Well done Deccers.

Yes! We mustn't ignore the elephant!

Am I the only one to spot the hidden subtext in this? Clearly the BBC, far from dumbing down to the point of mental retardation, are actually being very subtle and clever.

You see, the dishwashing thing indicates that Northern Rock depositors are in the process of being "cleaned out", whilst Declan is now officially "washed up" as a presenter. There may possibly be a further sub-text about "bubbles" but maybe I'm reading too much into it?

I see what you mean. So basically the subliminal message from BBC business news is: "It's all going down the plug hole".

"Now Declans that read news that feels soft and quite safe, we're bust, broke and illiquid."

(Now hands that do dishes can feel soft as your face, with mild green Fairy Liquid.)

:P

So what is better for the envrionment, hand washing or using a dishwasher?

I need to know this.

Then I can add more pressure to the landlord for a dishwasher.

For the absolute minimal carbon footprint:

Eat only take-aways (out of the box).

Drink straight from the tap.

Only wash dishes when you've run out of anything that isn't encrusted with stale food and various sauces and/or the sink is full up.

Or is that just me?

didn't you realise that buying an eco friendly dishwasher boosts the economy more than a bottle of washy up liquid every month.

I too thought it was a bizarre financial item.

They should do an eco section but perhaps not at the expense of financial news. They could have done a nice report on how safe your first £32k is.
