Funny how ZaNuLabour are happy to bail out the bank based in their Geordie heartlands where 60% of the population work for Gordon's client state.

Interestingly, the most popular comment on the BBCs "Have Your Say" is

I’ve just had a very bad night at the casino after losing heavily on the dogs yesterday, this is causing me a short term liquidity problem which may result in my not being able to house or feed my family, I would like to ask the Bank of England for a loan to cover my short-sightedness. I really do realise how stupid I have been with money but without the loan my dog will suffer; a few hundred million should cover my ineptness.

Thanking you in advance for bailing me out.

However this guy is a natural comedian...

Northern Rock are NOT in the sub-prime business, they are a prime-ONLY lender with healthy assets and are still forecasting profits of 500m+ for 2007.

This is a temporary liquidity problem, nothing else.

What DOESN’T help matters in the sensational headlines and scaremongering by the media. We have Sky on in the office and they haven’t shut-up about it all day.

For what it’s worth, my opinion is to wait a few days (maybe weeks) and then BUY shares in NR.

Wow they're on the ball. I thought they were in dire straights but with an alert management team like that we can have full confidence that they'll turn it around...:lol:

No its still there, click the "Intermediaries" link on the top toolbar, then ignore the "Don't look if your a pleb" Warning and proceed to the sell the Plebs into debt slavery, for a fat commission section.

Well call me a fool but I just bought a few NRK @ 446p , couldn't resist.

D ;)

In today's crackpot financial markets, that might actually turn out to be a wise buy.
