China likely to crack down on property speculation

BEIJING (AFP) - China's central bank is likely to clamp down further on property speculations in a bid to curb soaring real estate prices, state media said Thursday.
New regulations, which could be released as early as this week, will specifically target people who buy a second apartment, the China Daily reported, citing an unnamed official at the bank.
The rules are expected to require second-time home buyers to make a down payment of 40 percent, as opposed to as little as 20 percent for first-time home buyers, according to the paper.

The Chinese have seen what Brown has down to our country and have learned exactly what NOT to do.

Yes and that's to their credit as a nation that has come from such difficulties-they have dragged themselves out of trouble and worked their way out of poverty and invested in the development of their nation and not allowed wealth to haemorrage away from their economy unlike us. Much like UK and US are going to have to do in the near future the way things are going-recovery will be a slow painful process and politicians will once again be trotting out catchphrases like 'if it isnt hurting it isnt working'! Game set and match to China and other former communist block countries? Its looking increasingly that way. ;)
