Tough Times Ahead For Uk Retailers

Recommended Posts

January Sales are still going on in Bristol. A lot of 70% off bargains, so I've been shopping.

Yup, I'm a tight Yorkshireman, and don't like to pay the full price for anything.

Now, I wonder if that new shopping mall will be fully occupied, when finished?

I think not.

I went clothes shopping last month on Oxford Street, hardly any sales. I couldn't get my breath over the exorbitant prices they were asking for just ordinary clothes in places like Next, Gap and French Connection. Not even designer labels. I think these shops maybe shooting themselves in the foot because hardly anyone in the street was carrying shopping bags.

The next big money-spinner for the clothes chains will be 'ethical' clothing - ie, the same old tat but marked up at 50% and sold to the conscience-stricken middle classes on the understanding that the people who made them get 7p a day instead of 5p.

sick innit - though not as bad as politicians and big business selling themselves on their 'green' credentials while they fly short distances between ivory towers in their lear jets and continue to rape the third world for cheap resources.

Oh what a bunch of idiots the human race is

RESPECT MOTHER EARTH OR DIE!!

My sentiments exactly-its utterly obscene that we still see such unashamed exploitation in the 21st century....we really are not nearly so civilised as some would like to believe! My latest working venture is aimed directly at this kind of thing ie sustainable permaculture design. In this country we have come to rely FAR to heavily on cheaply imported goods and food. Our own agriculture is hopeless at this point in time. Too little too late in terms of diversification unfortunately but that will HAVE to change at some point very soon or people will be going very hungry-its about time some folk woke up and realised the rest of the world does not owe them an extravagant materialistic lifestyle and we'll have to do our fair share!

I think it's because no one's been buying **** clothes since they stopped finding the arrangement of a naughty swearword funny! Last time I went in there the clothing line was dire.

NEXT, who's clothing line (male at least) is aimed at the middle aged, are forgetting is that these are the famous boomers who can afford to shop somewhere a little...ahem...more upmarket.

Edit: Don't know why it's starred it out... f c u k

This should be tattooed on the inside of every westerner's eyelids - Maybe only then will the planet survive with us on it.
