From Bloomberg TV interview with Patrick Evershed of New Star Asset Management.....

Interviewer:-

"Didn't Gordon Brown claim to have eliminated boom to bust, but has he just replaced one with the other"?

Evershed:-

"Well, I think he claims that he's stopped boom and bust, but I think he's probably creating the greatest possibility of a real big bust because the savings ratio is very low in the UK, we've got record levels of personal borrowing and record levels of people going insolvent and house prices are at an unsustainable level"

Patrick Evershed must be one of the oldest fund managers around , must be nearly 70 he used to run Rathbones special situations fund for years which generated amazing returns , nice to see though he too has spotted the obvious in that the market is unsustainable .

Funny thing is New Star run a property fund as well , wonder what that fund manager thinking

Hargreaves Lansdowne i've used them for years , excellent brokers imo , Eversheds New Star fund only has 128 million in it which is good , makes it flexible and nimble to get in and out of " oppurtunities" , whilst the New Star property fund has over 2 billion in it , far too much , and is currently invested in a slow declining illiquid market :o
