Cameron orders emergency election manifesto

David Cameron has ordered an emergency election manifesto to be written and warned the Tories they must be prepared to fight a
general election against Gordon Brown in just three weeks
.
A leaked memo from the Tory chairman, Caroline Spelman, reveals the extent of the urgency now gripping Conservative headquarters with fears that Mr Brown is planning to capitalise on his lead in the opinion polls and call an election next month.
Miss Spelman has written to all MPs and candidates ordering them to be ready for an autumn battle. The letter, headed "general election preparations" and dated August 17, reveals Tory chiefs are already plotting the first days of an election campaign.

Brown obviously did not calculate the speed at which the crash is moving ahead and since it is HPI-MEW-BTL related he is going to take the full brunt of the blame for promising that it would be boom only and no bust. Surely, October will be far too late for him to go to the polls as by that time even the sleepiest sheeple will be awke looking for someone to blame?

IMO, better Brown gets back in with a much reduced majority so he can reap what he has sown. Cameron is a no-hoper in any event, silly policies and no vision for a better Britain.

If he wants to win he is misguided.....

If the Conservatives have some one reading this thread, a word of advice...

Tell the electorate that no-one can save the sinking ship and your boycotting the elections this time round..

Watch the public jaws drop and the stock market crash........

That'd be a massive gamble but I'd love to see them have the balls to do it.

My God I can't believe how quickly things are developing. WHEN is the sh*t gonna seriously hit the fan though? When are these shores gonna start to feel the real effects of what's going on? Most people I know haven't got a clue what's building up.

If house prices crash and the americian economy continues the slow down. Now has to be the best time. If I was Gordon I would go now.

With the sh*tstorm starting to blow in with regard to house prices (the only thing the sheeple care about) he needs to call one before the VIs are FORCED to reveal the falls. So far, only RICS have come clean and said its getting rough. As of now they are placated by delussional thoughts of a "soft landing."

IMO, I think he will go for it in September as the bad news is breaking all around him and he knows he was the architect of it all in the form of a "miracle economy" that was nothing but debt and the illusion of wealth.

Is it 3 weeks notice?

That my sentiments exactly! Gordo would do well to bow out and let someone else take the mantle for the rough times ahead.

At least he can then make a fortune on After Dinner Speakers circuit.

Absolutely. Stock market news means little to most and as far as the GB public are concerned, things are just peachy. House prices are high and those nice Nationwide surveys keep telling them that they're going to go even higher. They can still pick up cheap mortgages (5.75% is still super-low as a base rate) and easy loans and the economy looks fine on the surface.

After the New Year, things may well be looking a lot different to the extent where ordinary voters might finally realise how royally fupped the country really is....

Given that he's still on an electoral honeymoon, he'd be mad not to go to the polls ASAP.

Observer are saying its October:

Brown: plans ready for snap election
PM orders team to prepare for October, but 2008 poll is still most likely
Ned "Edward" Temko and Nicholas "Nicky" Watt
Sunday August 19, 2007
The Observer
Gordon Brown has placed the Labour party on general election alert, instructing his campaign high command to draw up detailed plans for a possible snap poll in October, The Observer has learnt.
Buoyed by Labour's 10-point lead in the polls, the Prime Minister has ordered a detailed blueprint with 'all options' to give him the opportunity of calling an election within weeks.
One source close to the election group told The Observer: 'The brief is to be able to tell Gordon that if you want to call an election in a few weeks' time, this is what we're going to do and this is exactly how we're going to get it sorted.'

His window of opportunity is getting smaller by the hour. IMO he should go for it in September as far too many poisons will have hatched out of the mud by October. In fact, he should have called a GE the moment he ascended to No. 10. IMO, the absolute key is for him to get in before the sheeple wake up to the fact that the ONE SINGLE THING he has given them is still intact: HPI. If the sheeple think house prices are going down he goes down with them. He can blame the SM and sterling crash on outside forces but he promised the sheeple only a boom in house prices not a bust.

if i where him, i would NOT go to the pools until i have to, which is late 2010.

why risk 3 years for 5 years and a reduced majority.
