Sometimes It's Hard To Resist The Tin-foil Hat

Recommended Posts

In 2000, my overpriced terrestrial b'cast feed (marketeye for those who care), stopped working in the middle of a panic day. The same can be said for every "amateur" feed I've ever bothered with. Essentially, for one reason or another, when the shit hits, the data stops. Of course, most people woud put this down to "site traffic". But marketeye was beamed in via the airwaves: it was a push, not a pull technology. Of course, they always had a decent excuse, and one might blame the problem legitimately on trade volume data ... not that trade volume is that heavy in crashes ... but anyhow... I'm sure there are perfectly good technical reasons why the small man ends up with no data just when he needs it .... speaking of which, see the below attachments.

Interestingly, MarketMaker, CMC's spread bet platform has never before had data delay problems. But I'm sure it's just paranoia ..

The yahoo finance problem occured yesterday (15/08/07) , the CMC problem, this morning (16/08/07).
