Ftse Plunge Wipes Out The Year's Gains

FTSE plunge wipes out year's gains

Nick Goodway, Evening Standard

10 August 2007. Updated 12.30pm

The FTSE 100 index of top companies plunged again today, wiping out all the gains made on shares so far this year.

By early afternoon, FTSE 100 index was down 213.6 points at 6057.6, a fall of 3.4% that wiped billions off the value of leading UK shares.

HPC-appropriate quote from a reader:

Best thing that could have happened. Greed has driven London property prices beyond the reach of normal hard working people. Maybe we can now start living in the real world. People seem to expect large sums of money for doing very little.
