Where's The Best Place To Get Foreign Currency At The Moment?

Recommended Posts

I'm going on holiday and I need to score some Euros. Only a couple of hundred quid's worth. I normally use my wife's work's commission free service but they've stopped doing that now for some reason.

I used the Post Office last time we needed some Cypriot pounds last year, is it a good bet for Euros? Cheers.

Very surprised to NOT see the name of First Rate FX on MSE lists.

I've used them for the past 2 years to move money to Euroland and they've ALWAYS beaten the competition.

PS - Before you ask, I don't work for them...

I've started to use Tesco on-line service.

Orders over £500 are post free.

Well if it is for small amounts only, for when you go on Holiday. I have just opened this, a euro charge card with Caxton FX.

http://www.caxtonfxcard.com/home.asp

They have very competitive rate and charge you €2 per withdrawal and none when you use the card for purchases. It is basically a mastercard that you preload with euros from a UK debit card, this can be done online or via phone. You will find that this is one of the cheapest ways of getting euros.

Unfortunately it is not very good for non euro transactions.

For UK Bank debit cards, nationwide always seem to score well, with no foreign withdrawal charges. This applies everywhere.
