Chief Exec Posts On Financial Forums To Discredit Rival

Recommended Posts

Mods, feel free to move this off-topic as and when.

Anyone remember zorn, a rather prolific poster of days gone by? Well it turned out that zorn worked for Rightmove and it's often been speculated that certain other bullish posters have similar vested interests.

"Why would they bother with a pissant little forum like this"? I hear you say (OK, my hearing's not that good, but I'm a pretty good guesser.)

The benefits of such an approach were felt (for a while) by a certain John P. Mackey, CEO of Whole Foods Market, who would log on to various financial forums and rubbish the competition, Wild Oats Markets.

Some of Mr. Mackey’s postings from 1999 to 2006 claimed that Wild Oats was overvalued and poorly run. This year, Whole Foods announced it would buy its rival for about $565 million, but federal antitrust regulators won an injunction temporarily blocking the deal.

Well zorn, if you happen to be reading this, don't worry. Our regulators couldn't catch cold, let alone you. Sleept tight old friend.
