Renaissance In Manufacturing

Recommended Posts

Could the UK manufacturing sector be set for a new renaissance? When the pound sinks and real wages come down we could once again become a major manufacturing center?

Unfortunately I think we will have to go through a few years ‘in the wilderness’ when people finally realize that our standard of living is actually falling, there will be riots, a huge increase in the prison population, high unemployment and financial turmoil (partly due to the inevitable HPC) but as some point the UK will appear attractive again as a place for manufacturing, probably exporting most of our goods to China and India

Good, we will start to use locally produced food, not fly stuff from the other side of the world.

Children today need this advice:

Lean Chinese

Study subjects for a manufacturing based economy or for tourism.

We’ll be manufacturing a lot of items that hark back to our history, the newly rich (compared to us) Chinese and Indian middle classes will crave for a teapot or hand made dress made in the UK.

We'll manufacture food. From fields and land that isn't parched and turning to desert.

Did you see on one of the paul merton things that they had built replica british towns (people had bought but not moved in as it messes up feng shui once someone's lived there, so they were empty)

China will be able to build it's own tourist destinations. Why send the money abroad?

Great, we'll eat seasonal local foods, allotments will come back into fashion, people will ride horses because its cheaper to let the swine graze than it is to run a car.

Basically if you go buy 'The Good Life' on dvd you'll not only see a subpar comedy but the future of the typical english famiy.

We’ve moved too far from fundamentals, we are in a situation where hard work, sacrifice and restraint are not rewarded while idleness and other detrimental behavior is, this is unsustainable and will break.

I wonder how long ‘the wilderness’ years will be?

1945 Germany = Destroyed

1965 Germany = Power House

20 years?

We might manufacture food, but we'll only export it if we can reduce our population to the point where we have a surplus instead of a shortfall.

rest assured,we have a competitive advantage at SOMETHING!!!!!

we are world leaders at surveillance equipment, facial recognition technology and totally overcooking what ought to be sensible laws.

lets just export ALL of these to the rest of the world.Especially the politicians....preferably one-way.
