How Much Does Food Contribute To Cpi?

Here are the ingredients of CPI and their weightings....

Food and non-alcoholic beverages............ 10.3%

Alcohol and tobacco................................. 4.3%

Clothing and footwear.............................. 6.2%

Housing and household services.............. 11.5%

Furniture and household goods................. 6.8%

Health...................................................... 2.4%

Transport................................................ 15.2%

Communication........................................ 2.4%

Recreation and culture............................ 15.3%

Education............................................... 1.8%

Restaurants and hotels......................... 13.8%

Miscellaneous goods and services.......... 10.0%

TOTAL................................................. 100.0%

That said, they change the weightings every year. These are the May 2007 numbers.

So "Recreation and Culture" is more relevant that "Food" or "Housing".

and how do they weigh Transport, with green taxes on flights and monstruous hikes in train fares?
