Flat prices in Brighton and Hove are set to soar out of the reach of locals because of cash flooding down from London. according to Horsham-based property experts Technical Forecasts Got to keep that Wednesday Properdee Supplement on the boil! CviewUK
I like the reply from Gay to the Argus story. P.S. Brighton has been driven by London prices since the 1830's. The early history of Sussex Square and Lewes Crescent makes interesting reading. Edited October 24, 2007 by CviewUK

tigsrenting
Called in an EA's today to pick up that rag Latest Homes. The EA was quite friendly so I said I was looking to buy early next year. I asked him if vendors were getting more realistic in their asking prices (yes I already know they are beyond ridiculous) anyway he said they were totally unrealistic and when they go and give a valuation the vendor is always lobbing extra thousands on the asking price. He was fed up with it and told me not to buy until Christmas or early next year when they start to get the message. BIG SMILEY FACE lost the icons. CviewUK
Another Brighton anecdote from today Friend sold their Brighton house back in May as they needed a larger garden for their young child. Only completed on the deal yesterday when they moved into their cheaper and larger Shoreham Beach property. Brighton agent told my friend that they were now getting no interest in similar properties in the same road at £40k less.
*sparkle*
Flats now up to 879 ho humfound the same thing with properties going under offer http://www.rightmove.co.uk/viewdetails-146...=1&tr_t=buy NOW http://www.rightmove.co.uk/viewdetails-901...=1&tr_t=buy THAT IS A HUGE DROP there are some flats at the £100k ish mark that have been on and off constantly over the last 10 months or so. Estate agents have had a dead July and August and september is even worse. I deal with them a lot and other mortgage brokers and it is game over at the moment. These are two different properties one a studio and one is a one bedroom they haven't drop in price at all

I do think the 'B' agent has done a bit of a 'Ratner'. Who in their right mind would use his agency now? When I used to see my Mum in Brighton I could never understand where all those flash cars came from. I realised there was the London money and so called 'Pink Pound', but apart from the students, everybody seemed to be driving round in new Porsches, BMWs and Audis. On finding this site, it finally dawned on me that it was all MEW money! I was thinking that I must be doing something wrong, but it looks as though my lack of profligacy will pay off in the end. First class stuff. Your Hired! No ofcourse your not you stupid little boy, or in this case rival, jeleous, Agent. What none of you can realise is the effort, hard work, stress and commitment this job requires. The Indepedant recently listed the UK's 100 Toughest Jobs, and Estate Agency Was No. 1 So don't give me a hard time just because I'm a confident, articulate, attractive and successful businessman. equitystasher
I have been keeping a eye on the amount of transactions in the Brighton area using Home.co.uk property price tables. The latest figures are for Aug 2007 - 198 properties sold. Not many compared with Aug 2006 759 sold http://www.home.co.uk/guides/sold_house_pr...8&year=2007

thirdwave
I`ve been watching this one for the last 2 weeks to get a sense of where the market is heading. I don`t know how long its been on the market for(my guess is < 4 weeks) but its been reduced by 10k already..Not a significant reduction but it still gives me hope.. http://www.rightmove.co.uk/viewdetails-893...=2&tr_t=buy What's interesting is that properties on the street were selling at around 350k in 2004-2005 so this one has seen 0% HPI in the last couple of years..I would like to imagine that this house is being marketed at a nominal loss

Old fixtures and fittings gold taps etc. I found it quite depressing. No life or atmosphere. I'm not surprised they haven't gone up in value. There's not even a shop anywhere near. I later spoke with a friend who said she had looked around when they had just been built, said there was social housing or something like that at the back. Noticed the neighbours were mostly elderly or the Sussex cricket team.
