MINISTERS were last night accused of trying to “play down” the number of immigrants living in social housing at the expense of the taxpayer.

Two months ago officials claimed just one per cent of the allocation was occupied by migrants – but a TV programme tomorrow reveals the figure is five times higher – at one in 20 dwellings.

A SEAFRONT hotel once so glamorous it hosted Mick Jagger and Jerry Hall’s wedding reception is to become a holding centre for failed asylum seekers.

But since 2001 the former five-star hotel’s 200 beds have been used mainly for housing newly arrived refugees.

Its owner, Greek cypriot Panagiotis Stavrou, charges the Government around £350 a week per person for their

keep. There can be up to five people sharing a room.

Wow! £70,000 a week. That's where our tax money goes - 5 to a room, too!

edit: gulp. that's £3.64 million a year.

And to top it all, the money goes to a foreign hotel owner. Typical.

Not only that, most working Brits can't even afford to holiday in British hotels any more, they're so expensive.
