Potentially explosive device..i.e. a gas cylinder. Probably just got back from Glasto after an almighty bender and still has his camping stove in the boot.

ffs like:

a. you wouldnt use a merc unless it was stolen that morning, but then you wouldn't use a stolen vehicle as it would risk being stopped. If you planned ahead and stole it and changed the plates sometime prior then WHY would you pick a merc. If you are of foreign looking persuasion, driving a merc is still asking to be stopped l'm afraid. All roads lead to ********.

b. you wouldnt then allow the delivery of said bomb to be decided by a drunkard and the choice of bombing to be wherever he manages to leave the road.

Or a car with an LPG conversion!

I agree with the other posters here. The likely story is:

- "Man with either a gas cylinder in his boot, or an LPG conversion, drive his Merc while drunk and crashes it into a wheelie-bin. He runs off because he was driving while drunk".

- Police announce that the car contain "a device that could potentially explode."

- BBC puts headline news story at top of it page stating that: "Goverment and Police have bravely foiled a bomb plot in the centre of London in which the evil terrorists could have destroyed all of Londons lovely theatres, or- 'our way of life'. "

interesting that the government "cobra" meeting is still going ahead to discuss this incident

gordie must have a very long legislative programme ahead and wants to give it an early start...

He couldn't be trying to deflect public opinion away from the economic 'muddle' now could he?
