Nationwide Warns Rates May Hit 6pc

However, the mortgage lender's chief economist, Fionnuala Earley, said today the resilience of the housing market "will set the stage for that rate rise to move forward to July and for the risk of a rise to 6pc to increase significantly."

If rates do hit 6pc, Ms Earley said new demand in the housing market could be "choked off", as house price growth slows.

6% what ive been saying since last year, about how high rates will go, once we hit the 6% rate and touch on 6.5% then the whole housing market will collapse it will be worse that the US which still has a lot to drop.

4% will do if the credit markets do what they are doing in the US. No more imprudent lending, strict adherence to reasonable multiples, no more lie to buy, 20% down payment and proof of income etc etc.

And expect energy prices to shoot up, as the energy wars are about to start, between the west, russia and east. looks like the russians have made the 1st move to claiming the polar caps.
