Music To My Ears

Recommended Posts

My local paper, they featured this story on page 3, i thought you might find it interesting: Billy Bragg named this song record of the week;

"Born in Epping i,am as essex as can be

Its all i know and where most of my friends and family live

And i dont want to move away

But i dont want to have to live with

my mum and dad, until im old and grey.

Because i cant afford to live in the south east

Don't mention saving, Mr Brown

How am i supposed to even think

about a pension, when i cant afford

the mortgageon a poky flat.

I cant afford to live in the South East

I can't afford to live in the south east

Rent is sky high

House prices passed me by

And i can't see them coming back again

I dont want to emigrate

But its frustrating that i could afford

an awful lot more if i lived abroad

its only natural to want to stay where

you know and like

but i see my virtually fully employed generation, having to get on our bike

because we cant afford to live in the south east

we cant afford to live in the south east

Rent is sky high

House prices passed me by

And i can't see them coming back again

Says it all in a song eh!! You can hear the track on www.echo-news.co.uk then on to echofeatures/soundcheck/soundchecklive
