Rail passengers in the East Midlands are facing annual fare increases of nearly
3.5 per cent above the rate of inflation

The announcement comes from bus and train firm Stagecoach which has just won the contract to operate rail routes in the region.
The company says it plans to win back customers from the car by delivering a high quality service.

Oh hell, they'll probably follow me here and push up house prices. I'm sure you can pay for a lot of extra house with the 10% fall in single bus fares that's just been announced. Er, maybe. Not much use with a season ticket already though!

Yeah but 3.5 % above inflation is less than inflation.
