HenryWeston
the current work climate whos causing it? What the F~~K is going on. Is it the Poles, Is it the government. Is it just, that everyone, is in that much debt that they can`t pay trade rates any more. Client want work done for nothing. 10 lads on the books work for 5. Are the building trades always the first to go down ?

AteMoose
a similar thing happened in late 2004 as the market slowed, its debt thats causing it... Keep an eye on the MEW figures, when MEW falls people have stopped doing up the kitchen, MEW is about 50->15% of income...
Minos
the current work climate whos causing it?Are the building trades always the first to go down ? Really useful. If I get any work done I know how much they all charge now. Less chance of being ripped off. Ta.
Orbital
For balance its worth pointing out that some people in that thread feel the cause is different! mrphil
LOL, like the comment that electricians need as much knowledge as doctors!! Hmm, electrician - 6 weeks hands on training and a certificate at the end. Doctor 5 years training with some killer exams. Yup, they are the same! I taught myself plumbing in about 3 weeks, fitted a multi-jet shower, bath, toilet etc etc....ok, it took me 3 times as long as a good plumber. Mixture of yorkshire fittings & push-fit (ok upto 10 bar cold, 4 bar hot apparently ) I wouldn't like to think I was diagnosing/examining poss life threatening diseases/problems on people after 3 weeks though
