Unexpected
Next week: VAT to be paid by shopkeepers In other words, they will just pass the stamp duty right back to the buyer.
greengreen
does it really make any difference. for all those FTBs who have saved, then can now use their savings as a deposit rather than for stamp duty. Based on the desperation of some FTBs they will stretch themselves to get on the ladder and perhaps the seller will just up the price. Also what is the definition of a FTB, what about STRers / STMers. Perhaps if you have a partner, you could benefit twice, each person buying once. Selling up
God, it depresses me to see these ideas put forward where just 10 seconds reflection would show its pointlessness.
greengreen
Perhaps MPs should engage their brains, listen to FTBers to really understand the problems and then develop realistic policies. Their difficulty will always be that if they introduce policies the cause house prices to fall, they will alienate a huge number of voters, so they are walking a very fine line. Buyers and sellers maybe, but gives the gov a great opportunity to increase the tax, knowing that most sellers will have equity to pay it. Stamp duty rises to follow? RJG18
An interesting, but pointlessly flawed idea. RB, is your keyboard-hand injured? I noticed you did not end this articles with: "Great Crash 2: Quarter 2 2007!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
