Forgive me daft question of an immigrant - is there no politicians'/public officers' transparecy in that respect? In Poland politicians have to report their wealth to the public (whether they disclose 100% is yet another issue)

no, I don't trust any government, they are all manipulated by Jews and Martians

I find your comment obnoxious, yes I do not trust politicians but I have nothing but respect for the hard working British people that are of Jewish persuasion. I have worked with them all my life and have found them to be honorouable, decent, lawabiding, fellow British citizehich ns.

Perhaps you should realise the special relationship and affinity this country has with the Jewish people and religion. It is what has differentiated us from the rest of Europe in its treatment through the years of people of the the Jewish and other smaller religions.

I think it would be only right that you apologise for your smear of my hard working fellow British Citizens...

Well said. The martians are only trying to make a better life for themselves after all those years of breathing terribly thin air and putting up with arid land and a pink sky. If they want to come to Earth and improve their lot, why shouldn't they?

Is that your avatar? I'm trying to work out how nice l am.

Another question, is anti-semitism still an issue in eastern europe, (along with racism and sexism) ?

It always makes me laugh that people wonder why nations who have only just come out of a 50yr social time freeze should suddenly share our "enlightened political correctness" overnight. I mean there are long standing members of the EU that still show appalling racism at football matches. The UK really IS only this country that is, for the most part, tolerant and l expect to see that falter in the future.

I also think the UK is very tolerant relatively speaking. This should not hide the fact that the UK has also one of the most discriminatory, racist, and aristocratic societies on the planet.

This is the reason Martians are emigrating in their thousands....

Listened to a hilarious programme on Radio 4 the other day about people from Eastern Europe coming here to train to be taxi drivers. It seemed like the instructor spent most of his time teaching them in basic hygiene ('Body odour is not acceptable. If I come here again and smell body odour you're out') and how not to patronise the disabled ('Not everyone using your cab will be physically able. It doesn't mean they're thick or that you can talk down to them').

Sounded like both sides needed a bit of cultural understanding!

No! This is why this country is going down the pan! All these martians coming here with their little green families, ten to a room. Using their pesky anti-gravity devices to do our jobs, breathing our air, taking our houses and interbreeding with our women so as to form some kind of wierd martian-human hybrid to take over the world and destroy us all with a super martian plague of massive destructiveness out of all proportion to anything we have ever witnessed at all ever.

Mind you, have you seen the price of a 3 bed semi on Olympus Mons recently?

There was supposed to be,but the MP's have made moves to exempt themselves from the "freedom of information act"

...obviously expenses and freebies are a bit of a hot potato.

there is the register of members' interests.....which is supposed to be public, but I've not seen it published.

..HEY,great idea,if anyone CAN get access to documentation like this, then why not publish it HERE!!!!

That is why existence in Britain IS the road to serfdom....

People think the Irish are the most shat on nation in history... at least they took actions to exit the foul beast.... The Brits just think it is chocolate pudding falling from the sky....

Bend...... Over...... Britiain...

It has been, is, and always will be.....

I'm good friends with the son of one of the MPs mentioned on that list, I know his affairs don't constitute the BTL landlord tag but are that of circumstance. And as my friend pointed out, his Father was earning six times the salary of an MP before he went into politics, so clearly money isn't the motivation.

Oh... your friend's father must be a great patriot and citizen then.... I say... these MP's are a swell bunch of fellows... Makes one wonder where they get their reputations as scum sucking, lilly livered, yellow bellied, deviant, lying, aristocratic, p00p-pushers... In other words... imperium patter-a$$es

Unless...... they are in it for pure..... EVIL and POWER!!! MuAh Ha Ha Ha!

Either that or they are in it for a larger allocation of rent boys.... C'mon we all know the Brits lean that way...... especially the "upper class"...

MP's...... = Malfeasant Pedo's

I can't find my MP Mohammed Sarwar on that list in the 3rd post. I know he is a multi-millionaire and his son has just been convicted of money laundering. I also remember he admitting giving a large bundle of cash to a fellow candidate in an election campaign who subsequently withdrew from the contest- although when taken to court for electoral fraud the jury acquited Mr Sarwar because they decided he was only being charitable. I'd like to see his property interests.

Gone off on a tangent?

After years of lurking in this forum, this has prompted my joining up and making my first post - I couldn't agree with you more Mikesev, based on the MPs I know and the actual figures (rather than what you read in the press).

The basic salary of a backbench MP is £60,675 - true, a good wage but not in the same league as many professional salaries. Of course 'on top' there are the (large) allowances such as for office costs, but MPs get these because in other jobs these costs would be met by the employer. (Personally I think it would be better if the allowances were scrapped and Parliament provided proper office facilities in London and the constituency, to restore public confidence and remove any possibility of abuse, but that's another matter.) The costs and allowances can be found at http://www.parliament.uk/documents/upload/M05.pdf

As to MPs being BTLers, I'm less qualified to speak on this but, looking at the list, of the ones whose circumstances I know it's personal factors that have driven the situation. In fact, you might say that MPs and candidates who choose to buy in a marginal constituency (in the hope they'll be there for a while), and rent out their old home, are ideal crash fodder - don't know how long they'll be living there and could be sacked in anything from a month to five years.

Anyway, first post done...

Are there any MPs who are not BTL landlords?

Interesting to note that Chris Huhne seems to have cut back his portfolio. He filled his boots in the mid '90s.

He may be a leftie with a charisma bypass, but he strikes me as quite astute on personal finance. Unusual for a journalist.
