joey Posted May 29, 2007 Share Posted May 29, 2007 This is why MPs don't care about the housing market : they are earning money on it. They don't need to worry about any downturn in anything. They great secure pension schemes, so what if we go in recession or have a housing bust, the taxpayer will look after them. Any probs just increase the taxes this applies to both labour and the conservatives. Watch how their pay rises are way up with inflation and they all vote for this. Safest secure pension is an MP and unfortunately as there is very little money in the pot, future generations will be paying more intaxes to wipe these bottoms. Notwithstanding any potential conspiracy theories about his hidden property empire, I reckon this is significant. Brown has socialist principles and the damage the BTL boom has caused must be apparent to him (even if his taxing of pensions helping spark it isn't) The fact he hasn't jumped on the BTL bandwagon like the Blairs suggests he will have much less personal vested interest in keeping the BTL brigade sweet. The tax crackdown is just the beginning. I reckon Brown is going to make amateur BTL unviable when he becomes PM (unless the lenders get there first). There's a lot of Brown bashing on this forum, and although I agree with some of it. I think the greed and self interest associated with housing boom is much more synonymous with the Neo-liberal champagne socialist Islingtonites, than with the dour Presbyterian old school socialists of this world. Due to the recent admission by elected members of your government (see attached) as to their interests in buy to let property can the following steps be taken: 1: Lord Edward George, his admission to manipulating the housing market into an artificially high boom has led to a decimated birth rate and a level of debt of such staggering levels that mere mortal minds shatter when trying to consider the numbers involved. This man must be tried under his admission for treason. 2: All members of government can be assumed to be aware of the sacrifice of a generations future and they of course will be fired, those in the above group who have also profited from this endeavour should be also tried for treason. 3: As this treason was started after the death penalty for treason was removed it should be replaced for these crimes (Obvious, the legislators already guilty of a crime then passed legislation to reduce the punishment of said crime so the legislation is void. Brown has socialist principles and the damage the BTL boom has caused must be apparent to him (even if his taxing of pensions helping spark it isn't) The fact he hasn't jumped on the BTL bandwagon like the Blairs suggests he will have much less personal vested interest in keeping the BTL brigade sweet. The tax crackdown is just the beginning. I reckon Brown is going to make amateur BTL unviable when he becomes PM (unless the lenders get there first). There's a lot of Brown bashing on this forum, and although I agree with some of it. I think the greed and self interest associated with housing boom is much more synonymous with the Neo-liberal champagne socialist Islingtonites, than with the dour Presbyterian old school socialists of this world.
