Complaints against EAs, to the ombudsman, are at a record high and the BBC are doing a "have your say" this morning.

In an article I was reading about the spiv who started Foxtons there was a fair bit of talk about EA's becoming much more regulated in the immediate future; anyone heard anything about this?

It was in an article in yesterdays evening standard.

I'm with you brother. I am fed up of searching the web, finding a place to view, ringing up and being told it has been sold. Fair enough it is a fast moving market. Then I routinely called my list of 20 or so estate agents and ask them if they have anything in the area for the budget etc. they say, yep, go to X address at Y time and view it. When I turn up, 4 times out of 5 it is the vendors showing me around. Where exactly does the estate agent earn their 2%?? they are doing less work than a diary secretary in an office (which I am not saying is easy, but does certainly cost less than the money the EAs cream in!!)

Maybe if my criteria was a 5 bed edwardian in Islington I'd get more attention!! They aren't all bad people, but the majority are just having it too easy and giving poor service compared to the commission. Why don't more people sell on ebay!! It is just as efficient for them I would think!
