UK Prices set to soar in May
Friday, May 18, 2007
House prices will hit new heights in May as
sellers scramble onto the market
ahead of the introduction of HIPS, claims Estate Agent Your Move...
Your Move’s new monthly house price predictor is forecasting a 1.65% increase in the exchange price of the average UK property in May.

Move Channel Spiv to press agent: quick, the housing news is awful out there, the LR are reporting massive drops in most areas across the country and the biggest bull paper in Scotland has gone bear--get something out to the press and be quick about it. Tell them that there is a frenzy in people getting their houses on the market and that increasing supply will be sure to push up prices by the largest amount recorded in history.....

It seems that the most recent LR report is causing the bulls/neithers to run around in circles.

There will come a time when this VI spin will be about as effective as wading through treacle - and I think that time is VERY close!

Did they actually fall or rise?

May saw a massive rise in the supply figures and June is looking like the pace of people trying to get out has picked up with over 40,000 new listings since 2nd May.

Here are the numbers from bellwether site findaproperty.com which operates mostly in London and the SE:

Search 311,107 properties for sale and rent from 5,776 estate agents 2nd May
Search 314,137 properties for sale and rent from 5,780 estate agents 8th May
Search 320,190 properties for sale and rent from 5,821 estate agents 15th May
Search 323,579 properties for sale and rent from 5,831 estate agents* 18th May
Search 337,110 properties for sale and rent from 5,978 estate agents 26th May
Search 338,196 properties for sale and rent from 6,007 estate agents 1st June
Search 341,067 properties for sale and rent from 6,006 estate agents 6th June
Search 344,525 properties for sale and rent from 6,030 estate agents 11th June
Search 352,041 properties for sale and rent from 6,114 estate agents 18th June

_________________________________________________

* According to Findaproperty, a new multiple branch agent was signed up in February. The wide variations in the number of EAs reporting is reflecting multiple branches within an EA organization reporting in with increasing numbers of available property. The large swings in the number of agent reporting are also due to individual policies of each EA signed up with Findaproperty. Some EAs report all new listings through one branch and others leave reporting to the individual branch. Thus, the figures are an indication of increasing supply only and are not an indication of more or less business per agent.

I think I'm missing something here ... if I read correctly then...

a lack of supply causes HPI;

a surge in supply causes HPI

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

I think I'm losing the plot!
