Went To The Butchers

Recommended Posts

I thought I'd drive into town to buy my weekly bag of biltong (spicy dried beef) and every other office building I drove past had a "to let" sign in front of it. Parked in an empty carpark and wandered into the shopping area. The place was deserted which I commented on to the butcher who is nearing retirement, his response:

"Well people can't just keep on spending you know, they've taken all the loans and now they have nothing left. Been like it all week and I thought it was bad after christmas"

I was gobsmacked, so feeling guilty on the way back to the car I thought I'd do my bit for the economy and bought a DVD for £3 from HMV

One of the chaps at my Archery club is a Buthcher, he was saying a few weeks back things are really bad. He said Christmas was very poor and it has not picked up since.

Overheard old Mabel and Norma discussing house prices whilst they were standing in the queue to pay at Tesco's , they both reckon houses are rather " pricey these days " , sentiment is definatly changing ;)
