urban_hymn
Hi I've pasted this, its taken from the website of Lawson and Company (letting agents in Wolverhampton) "We are proud to be one of the first letting agents locally to have a dedicated inventory clerk following the R.I.C.S. code of conduct for Deposit deductions and to be registered in the National Tenancy Deposit Scheme, to further improve our service to you." Does anybody know where I can get a copy of this "code of conduct" please. I have very carefully looked after the property I rent from them and I want to make sure they don't shaft me for my deposit when it's time to leave. I gather letting agents have a very bad reputation for trumping up reasons to withhold deposits. Search engines come up with absolutely zilch thanks in anticipation hymn

urban_hymn
Thanks for the link zzg - but it's the actual code itself I'm after hymn
zzg113
http://www.tds.gb.com/whatistds.htm I don't think there is an actual code. I think there is a scheme, the Tenancy Deposit Scheme for Regulated Agents (TDSRA) which the NAEA, RICS, and ARLA have joined. Also, there's no need to be so shirty about it, I was only trying to help. Maybe I shouldn't bother in future.
urban_hymn
Hi ZZG Please accept my apologies if my previous reply appeared shirty. It was meant to be brief but definitely not shirty! I'm very grateful for your taking the trouble to answer. As for this "Code of Conduct..." I don't believe it exists; it's just a letting agents marketing bull. All my tenancy agreement Ts and Cs are skewed against me anyway. I believe tenants in the UK are viewed as feckless and socially inferior to homeowners, especially in the current climate where expressing an antipathy to property ownership is likely to get one sectioned.
