AvidFan
I will honestly despair of the human race if Brown does a "bag swap" with Blair for No. 10, Blair goes off onto the "after dinner" circuit, they bring in a fall-guy for the economy and the public at large buy it. You just *know* people aren't *that* stupid, but you just *know* it's going to happen. One choice that wasn't apparent before though - it looks as though it's a toss-up between a fourth term for Labour with GB in the chair or just the 3 terms with the party going to the grave, Blair pulling GB and Labour's public reputation down with him. Why do you think Brown can save NL now? The HPC and subsequent recession will come nicely just in time for 2009-10.

Realistbear
http://uk.news.yahoo.com/07092006/323/iron...-s-top-job.html The 'iron chancellor' within striking distance of Britain's top job AFP Thursday September 7, 11:01 AM By Ben Perry LONDON (AFP) - Chancellor of the Exchequer Gordon Brown, alleged to be behind a "coup" against Tony Blair, appears to be closer than ever to fulfilling his ambition to become the next prime minister. Brown, dubbed the "iron chancellor" for his nine-year strict stewardship of his country's economy, was pictured in many newspapers with a grin on his face as he left a reportedly stormy meeting with Blair on Wednesday . The meeting occurred on a day that eight junior government members resigned after endorsing a letter urging Blair to quit sooner than later for the sake of the party and country. It was a "coup" orchestrated by Brown, a former ally turned arch rival, some papers said. Imagine the man who has ruined the economy for generations by planting the seeds of inflation through irresponsible borrowing becoming Prime Minister. lulu
Best thing (for Nu Labour) is to lose the next election then let the next government take the blame for the economic fallout. This is what will happen. Those nasty Tories will get in then get the blame when it all goes **** over tit - I actually hope they make a point of not winning the next election. Leave Brown and buddies with a sinking ship on their watch (not that it hasn't already rattled off the iceberg and is floundering - the majority of people just have not realised it yet "but this ship can't sink")

He's officially registred as blind as his sight in the one eye is so bad (so can't drive a car, for instance). Probably explains how he ended up marrying Mrs Brown.
