China?

Not very good for the Burberry image I would imagine. Their entire brand is based around Britishness. If it ever got out that their expensive designer gear was made in a Shanghai factory, they would be quite unpopular.

Never was detrimental to Nike.

Nike's brand is not associated with any one particular country, it is associated with the celebrity sportsmen and women that a paid to wear Nike.

Burberry's brand is linked to Britain (like Rolls Royce, or Paul Smith). People buy their product partly because of the association.

I'm not so sure - people generally care less and less about where the goods come from (90% of what we buy these days comes from China, it seems, and no-one cares) , and in Burberry's case they sell themselves more on "class" than an explict expression of British identity.
